Classic Banana Pudding Recipe

In a saucepan, whisk together 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour, and a pinch of salt.

Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk until smooth.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.

 In a separate bowl, beat 3 egg yolks.

Gradually whisk in a small amount of the hot milk mixture into the beaten egg yolks to temper them.

 Pour the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

 Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Layer sliced bananas, vanilla wafers, and pudding in a dish. Refrigerate until chilled before serving.
